    Hi there,

I have MS Office for Mac 2008 installed on Leopard 10.5.6. I cannot find a way to tell the Windows side in Parallels 3.0, 5626 to open a Word (or any other Mac app) file in Windows. I have enabled Shared Applications and populated the files with no success. When I run populate on the Mac files the whole Windows portions seems to freeze up for about a minute whilst it populates. No change.

So... what am I missing? I have Shared Folders and Shared Applications (both Mac and Windows) enabled and the Windows side still doesn't "see" the Mac applications? I need to be able to use the Word files in Windows as well as Mac.

Any help and suggestions very much appreciated. I am stuck!

    Thanks in advance.

    Lynn

    Hello,
This is on the Windows Side - > DO a right click on any Documents -> Click on " Open With " -> this will give you a list of both the Mac as well as Windows applications. You can choose the required application to open the documents in any one of them.

    Hi there,

Thanks for your reply. I understand the Open With concept; however, I now have an issue with a pdf file that needs Adobe Acrobat Reader to open same. I searched for Adobe Reader 8 on the Mac side and cannot associate the file so as to be able to open it on the Windows side. This, in a nutshell, is my problem. How do I associate the Windows file to the applications on the Mac side? The Applications folder just doesn't seem to be available, and when it is, it doesn't give me the options I need to complete the process.

    Thanks again!

I think the root of the problem is due to the fact the Parallels Shared Applications are missing from the START menu, All Programs. I only have Parallels Tools. I am the administrator, I have re-run populate in Mac. How do I tell the system to enable or initiate the Shared Applications in the Start menu?

What settings need to be changed in order to have this show up? Please advise. Thanks!

I think the source of my problem is due to the fact that the Shared Parallels folder is not showing up in the START menu.

Any advice on how to update this and have the folder appear? What needs to be done to accomplish this?

    Thanks again!
