    *sigh*

Installed the final build. Rebooted my mac.

Opened my VM file. "Unable to allocate virtual machine memory!"

Quit, opened another one -- same thing.

Quit, opened the last one -- same thing.

    *sigh*

Now I am dead in the water as NONE OF MY VM'S WILL OPEN.

MacPro with 6GB of RAM for pete's sake.

I just changed the allocation of RAM from 1500 to 1200, and it booted.

    WTF?

it will run better with 500 mb

6 gb hard disk for VM

keep your data on the Mac side of the shared folders
    using Parallels since June 2006

    small really is beautiful

it will take 2.2 gb virtual memory

see Activity monitor App 17 to 19 threads
    looks frightening
    just ignore

    and do some work

I have found it to be quite slow when using "Shared Folders" to access all of my documents. What has your experiences been?

Clean up your caches and machine with a tool like Onyx and see if you can top the allocation again and then boot...

As to the machine running faster with less... I find my XServe with 5 GB of RAM to run best with 1.5 GB... But, that is just me.

    Timeslip,
Using Shared Folders seems fine for casual use... It is just a little slow on the initial load I found... But so is mounting my network shares...
