Unable to activate the License key on new Computer

    Recently I upgraded my Macbook Pro and when I tried to restore from Time Machine Backup on the new machine and use the license key, I get an error saying maximum number of activations exceeded. I no longer have the old computer and it has been reset to factory settings. What is my best option right now to recover? I do have my license key.

    I have the exact same issue. Mac OS needed to be wiped and restored from time machine backup and I am getting the exact same dialogue as described above. Please help.

    Same problem for me,
    cause HD problems I had to restore the time machine on a new macbook and got the same dialogue
