    Hello,
I've installed the new Parallels Desktop 5 and am attempting to create an Ubuntu Studio 9.0.4 virtual machine on my MacBook running OS 10.6.2 with 4Mb RAM.

Parallels allows the entire installation from a diskimage downloaded from Ubuntu's site (for i386) and shows no errors.

When I restart the Ubuntu virtual machine, making sure that the virtual DVD drive was not a possible selection, the boot process stops after showing several lines of code, last one being:

    [ 3.485008] [<c0105547>] ? kernel_thread_helper+0x7/0x10

The virtual machine just hangs at that point.

Has anyone else come up against this, and if so, did you figure out how to get past it?

    Thank you!
    Donn

I have exactly the same problem with Mac OS 10.5.8 on my iMac with 2GB RAM trying to install Ubuntu Studio 9.04. I then tried installing 9.10 and have a very similar problem but slightly different output when it hangs. I have tried installing both as an Ubuntu OS and also other Linux 2.6 kernel under Parallels 5.

    Same Here

I have tried installing Ubuntu Studio 9.10 from the downloaded .iso (running on a 4gb Unibody Macbook Pro OS 10.6.2) and everything installs correctly, no error messages, then try to boot and get lines of code but no boot just stops. Deleted my VM and then downloaded Ubuntu Studio 9.04 again everything appeared to install correctly but when try to boot get the same error messages as you.
I do have Ubuntu Studio 8.10 working fine but no luck with 9.04 or 9.10.
