I had to hard reset Ubuntu because of some problems. However, now the OS stops in the black startup-screen. I suppose there is some message there awaiting some user input (Hard Disk corrupt, would you like to run fsck? Or something like that). Is there any way to find out what is happening there, or better, is there a way to just see the startup-sequence? Johan Henselmans
found the solution: Esc during Grub Just after the post I found the solution: in the startup-sequence it is possible to esc and get a grub menu. In this menu it is possible to run ubuntu in recovery-mode. There all the messages that are needed are displayed. In my case it was a harddisk corruption, caused by incorrect time settings....
