Hello, I'm running Ubuntu 6.10 as guest on my Windows XP Pro host. If I try to shut down Ubuntu the guests screen just turns black and parallels consumes nearly 100% of my CPU-time until I manually power the VM off using the stop button on the right hand menu. Any suggestions? Thanks and best regards, Jens
Parallels doesn't support ACPI so that's why any guest other than windows won't be able to trigger shutdown properly.
but why did suse power down correctly. And how do I know when Ubuntu is down? The window is black and parallels consumes a lot of cpu time. Best regards, Jens
For me, Ubuntu has never been able to autoshutdown in Parallels. You might want to remove the quiet splash kernel flags from your current kernel at /boot/grub/menu.lst to get a more verbose output during startup/shutdown.
