:( I am having trouble understanding the interaction between the Host CD Rom and the Guest or Virtual CD Rom. Do I understand that once on the Guest OS, we cannot go to My Computer and access, say the D drive or A drive and read them just like we could on the host OS? Is that correct? I am reading the Parallels manual and it says that a virtual machine CD/DVD ROM drive can be connected to a real CD/dvd ROM drive of your computer as well as an iso image. I tried following from there but got lost. I did get to the image tool and tried that , but there was an error reading my CD drive. So I am lost. The other thing I realize that to start the tool I was in my host OS system. (Mac OS 10) and what I was hoping for was a way to go into my Windows XP Guest OS and download files from a CD drive or an A drive there. I guess I am really confused and need some direction.

    Thanks

    David

The guest can use the CD or the host can use the CD, but not both at the same time. Ownership can be transferred at any time. Before it can be transferred to the alternate OS it has to be released by the OS that has ownership.
