I open the ipsw with parallels (by setting the app in Get Info) and it opens, but then fails system verification. UniversalMac_14.2.1_23C71_Restore.ipsw from Apple's Developer Download page. Parallels 19.2.0 Any ideas? Parallels doesn't seem to recognize .ipsw files as openable normally. Thanks!
Hello. For Parallels Desktop, Matthew is correct, in terms of creating macOS virtual machines for Intel Mac. To do that on Intel, you would need to use a downloaded .app of the system, typically from appstore: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/macos-sonoma/id6450717509 or there are also full installers available on Apple sites with direct links, for build C2371 for instance it would be: https://swcdn.apple.com/content/dow...3tshaz6rhwhgnlzkzhs1zuae/InstallAssistant.pkg Apple seemingly also allows targeting the installers by version with the following terminal command, the .app would end up in "Applications": softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 14.2.1 Regardless of the method of obtaining the .app for OS, you would be able to use it in "Install Windows, Linux or MacOS from an image file" option, while creating a virtual machine on an Intel Mac.
It may have been at one point, but the ipsw says Universal and the developer website only lists the one binary for macOS 14.2.1.

OK, this one worked. https://swcdn.apple.com/content/dow...3tshaz6rhwhgnlzkzhs1zuae/InstallAssistant.pkg I had tried from the Installer.app before, but it kept crashing during install. Thank you!
