I have read the User Manual and the PDF Parallels Transporter User Guide.pdf several times and I just don't get it. I have a Mac Pro with Parallels all installed with Windows 2000 all setup and configured just the way I want it with no problems. Now I want to install Parallels on a Mac Book Pro but avoid having to reinstall Windows and to reconfigure everything. I want the install to look just like the Mac Pro that I spent so much time getting setup just right. Using Transporter I was able to create a winxp folder with the winxp.hdd and winxpvs files in it from the Mac Pro but what do you do next and is this even going in the right direction? I have also installed Parallels on the Mac Book Pro thinking I could just import a image but you can't do a install without installing a new versions of Windows or pointing at something called a ISO file which is something I have never heard of and don't see any directions on how to make. Can this be done at all? Any help would be much appreciated.
Migration Assistant I think you could just use Apple's Migration Assistant to migrate over the all your settings and applications from your "old" computer to the new computer. Migration Assistant is located in your Hard Drive/Applications/Utilities/Migration Assistant. Good Luck!
Would this work for migrating the Parallels settings only? I'm trying to setup a Parallels "image" so that I can install it on top of my Mac images for certain machines that need it. Thanks for the help.
When you ever trying to use transporter please be sure of following: Example bellow is for Windows XP, but it is applying to all Microsoft OSes When you initially installed Windows Xp, you installed it without Service Pack, later you upgraded Virtual Windows to server Pack 1,2,or 3 During migration Transporter is asking Cd and you provided old Cd, You need to provide the same service pack level CD, as currently installed in Virtual Machine You can slipstream CD as described in http://www.helpwithwindows.com/WindowsXP/winxp-sp2-bootcd.html Please note you need to perform operation sequentially. First integrate SP1, then SP2, and so on and create Boot CD, after that perform migration
