I'd like to start a detailed technical discussion on installation updates which may be useful for Parallels in resolving issues and to let others know whether they should attempt this. Please, no "me too"s. It would be helpful if those who successfully upgraded also provide this info.
Please provide the following info. Remember to BACKUP your system BEFORE upgrading.
Win VM side:
- XP / Vista OS version with service pack level
- VM memory assigned
- VM HD configuration and size including free space before upgrade
- Serial/Parallel/audio configuration for VM (everyone using network I assume)
- VM completely shutdown before upgrade?
- is this a bootcamp VM?
- is there an autologin account?
- any firewall software installed?
Mac side
- Free space on Mac drive before upgrade
- OSX version
- latest software updates?
- update from PD3 or clean PD4?
