I set this client up and depended on some help at the Apple Store but they were only marginally experienced. I made a (bad?) decision to install Win 7 OEM to Bootcamp and then have Parallels run a VM using the Bootcamp partition as the base. My thinking was since it's not a virtual disk system it would be more efficient. Obviously going with OEM was a problem as you can't boot directly into Bootcamp without licensing issues. His Mac is only about 2 years old and he's been keeping it updated - including Parallels. Several weeks ago, his Mac started crashing periodically while using the Win 7 VM. It's very inconsistent. I'm actually an experienced VMware user and am wishing I had just used Fusion in the first place. I'm just better versed at moving/converting VMware VMs. I went with Parallels figuring higher number of users with experience and probably better integration with Mac. I've been considering the following choices to resolve the issue: - Try uninstalling/reinstalling Parallels and recreate the VM from Bootcamp partition - but this time create a totally VM machine. Hopefully the drivers will appear to be similar/same hardware for the OEM license to not choke. - Pick up Fusion and a new Win 7 license (or Win 10 for downgrade install - they currently still need Win 7) and start from scratch. The latter is enticing for me as I've run VMware in its various forms: ESXi, Workstation etc. Thoughts? Wes
