I'm using a MacBook Pro with OSX and Parallels to run a Windows XP environment.

Using Parallels I installed Symantec Norton Antivirus Client Edition in Windows XP for a managed network. Now, every time I log off the Windows software, I get a Symantec box which states the following:

Symantec Antivirus found a disk in the floppy drive. In order to decrease the risk of being infected with a boot sector virus, remove the floppy before you shut down the computer.

I click on the OK button and the box refreshes itself.

Anyone else experience this problem and more importantly have a solution? I took the CD out of the CD tray thinking that might solve the problem, no such luck. I don't have a floppy drive so that is not the problem. I have uninstalled and reinstalled but that has not solved the problem.

    Thanks in advance

Disable the Floppy Disk Drive in Parallels/Perferences.

Thanks a lot. Idea was valid, location was a little different, perhaps a different version than what you are using.

    Location was under Parallels Desktop/Devices/floppy/disconnect

Parallels Desktop/Preferences gave me tab options for General - Memory - Network - Appearance - Animation - Keyboard

Problem that I'm now having is that everytime I restart Parallels, I have to go in and disconnect the floppy drive. The setting is not staying. Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance,
    Chris

Hmmm, sorry about the location, I thought that was at least close. This should be saved in your PVS file as a "Preference" for how your VM starts up. I'm not sure why it's not working in being saved but perhaps you'll have to manuall edit the PVS file.

    Hey Chris,
I'm assuming you're using Parallels build 3188. When you first launch Parallels
(Not Windows) click on the word "Configuration". From there, click on the floppy
disk from the list on the left and then try uninstalling it.

This is from the "Help" file, index entry re: "Removing Devices"

    To remove a device:

Open the virtual machine which device you want to remove, then open the Configuration Editor by selecting Edit->Virtual Machine in the Parallels Desktop application menu.
Select the device you want to remove in the left pane of the Configuration Editor window.
    Click the Remove button.

The Floppy Drive is listed there.
