I like Parallels very much, and I really appreciate your work! The more I use it the more I realize how difficult seemingly simple things can get in a VM environment. So my frequent reporting of details is not to complain, but only because I want to help make it even better. Ok - here's the (tiny) thing I found: I'm using Parallels sometimes on the internal screen of my MBP17", and sometimes on an external 1600x1200 screen (as the only screen, internal switched off, lid closed). Apparently, Parallels Tools (WinXP) detects the native screen resolution only at (guest's) boot time, and adds it to the list of available resolutions in the Parallels Video driver. So if I boot (the guest!) on the external screen, it does not register the MBP17" 1680x1050 special resolution. When I later go back to the internal screen (when I take the MBP with me out of the office), there's no way to use the full screen resolution except rebooting the XP guest. I guess this could be solved if the Parallels Tools video driver would update its list of available resolutions not only at boot time, but whenever the VM goes fullscreen.
You can add your custom resolutions statically in VM configuration and they will be present permanently.
my fault Thanks, Andrew! Of course - I should have found out myself. Sorry for bothering you with this!
