What do I mean? It would be a very useful addition to have the option of mounting a standard HDD image created on one virtual machine as a removeable (USB?) drive on another. This would eleminate the need to reboot the "receiving" VM in order to see the drive. The "donating" system should have the disk unmounted of course. This would serve more than one purpose:

    1) Maintenance and trouble shooting: Just use a working virtual machine to fix issues on non booting disks.

    2) Data exchange: Just declare the virtual HDD as removable on either VM and copy shared data back and forth. I know that networks serve the same purpose but it would still be a useful option, e.g. for driver installation.

Why not not use Shared Folders for this purpose?

John, shared folders are fine for data exchange but require a working VM with PT installed. For maintenance purposes or unsupported systems the idea would still be useful.
