I use parallels for 1 program only and this is active all day. After it has been running for about 1 hour there suddenly appears a HD in the Finder column. Name is "xxxxx07e9", xxxxx designates my home foldername 07e9 is unknown to me but looks like part of a MAC number. According to Finder this is a Bonjour device. That is to say. It disappears when I deselct showing of Bonjouw. For Windows I use Windows 7 (never updated) and there is no Bonjour installed. This HD bugs me since I have no inkling where it comes from, what it does (cannot beopened) wand why it is there. My questions: Why/what is it and how do I get rid of it.
to see whether this strange device has anything to do with Parallels you might try to run your Mac (and your VM with your 1 app) disconnected from the network for a day and see whether that thing still pops up. If it does, it's something on your Mac. If it doesn't, it's something elsewhere. Maybe it's a strangely named Bonjour device next door. I've never experienced that, though. Strange mystery device. Interesting.
I have only 1 application that runs under Parallels and that needs a constant Internet connection. So that test is a bit useless. However, I did already the reverse. Not running Parallels at all and then this HD device does not appear. Also the first part of the name is my username, so it is very unlikely that it comes from outside. Also the last part looks like a MAC address. It started to appear with the latest update of Parallels.
