Today I ran Parallels as usual and ended up with a strange file on my desktop:
    ParallelsDesktop-nova_development-en_US-4.0.3844.408822.dmg.prlupd-part

Every time I moved it to Trash it reappeared, even after I stopped the virtual engine.

Anyone know what this file is about?

    Hello Elliot,

To delete any file you have to always log in to an administrator account.
So can you please log in to an admin account and then try trashing the file.

Please reply us the status of the issue.

    Same Problem Here

I have the same problem - a mystery file that I can't delete either through Mac OS or Parallels/Windows.

    The filename is:

    ParallelsDesktop-parallels-en_US-4.0.3844.408728.dmg.prlupd-part

I have tried everything I can think of, including restarting both Mac and Windows, with no luck.

It's growing - currently over 30Mb, but has been over 40Mb. Deleting it reduces its size to almost zero, and then it grows again.

It seems to be a broken update file - it appeared after I manually updated the Kaspersky anti-virus.

    That's Funny!!!

After letting this file sit for a while it turned into a 175Mb DMG file for the latest Parallels update.

(I must have auto update turned on)

The clue is in the filename. It actually says parallels...updt

Next question - has anyone applied this update? had any problems?

i found how to get rid of that file.

just compress it on the desktop, erase the original file (the uncompress one) and then delete the compress one, after that empty the trash and you are done.
