I have successfully configured my SoundBlaster Audigy 2 NX system to work with Parallels / XP on MacPro using Digital Out to the Audigy's Digital In.

    Here are the steps:

    1. On reboot run: "sudo kextunload -v /System/Library/Extensions/AppleUSBAudio.kext" to tell the Mac to ignore the Audigy unit. I seem to need to run this twice, the first time I get a failed status, and the second run is successful.

    2. Select the SoundBlaster unit from the Devices -> USB menu in Parallels.

    3. Run the SoundBlaster setup program to install all the controls.

    4. On the Mac in System Preferences -> Sound -> Output select Digital Out

    5. On the PC open Control Panel -> Sound & Audio Devices -> Audio tab. Change the Sound playback dropdown to the Intel(r) Integrated Audio option.. This causes the PC sound to route through Parallels to the Mac which then is output digitally. If you use the Voice feature in XP select the Voice tab and also change the Voice playback to the Intel option.

Steps 1 & 2 are required each time you reboot. Step 2 every time you restart Parallels. Steps 3, 4 and 5 should be one time only.

Since the PC output is directed to the Digital In on the Audigy only the Master Volume and SPDIF-In volume controls work.

The remote control works properly to control the volume and mute functions. Haven't configured the option features yet.
