I left Parallels running all night sitting at the WinXP shutdown screen and my machine was rebooted by the morning. If you watch Activity Monitor while it's running, you can see the memory slowly increasing as well. I have 2G of memory on my MacBook Pro and 512M assigned to the VM and nothing else was running.
