I have a brand new i7 MBP, currently with 4GB, soon to be upgraded to 8GB. And Parallels is killing this machine. I just did a wake from suspend of XP 32 bit that took 10 minutes, slowing down everything else in the process! Adding or removing an external display doesn't take quite as long, but usually at least 3 to 5 minutes before the VM is usable again. Right now, I've manually allocated 1.5 GB of RAM for Parallels and 1 GB for the VM using only 1 processor.

Any ideas on how I can improve this? Will going to 8 GB and setting memory allocation to automatic help? I just spent over $2000 on this new machine and it's not working any better than my 3 year old MBP!
