I just installed Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, and everything seems to work, except there are problems with the graphics handling. I've figured out how to change the resolution by manually /etc/X11/xorg.conf. I'm having a problem with graphics vs. text switching. When I do a shutdown, it just goes to a blank screen and stays there. It appears that Linux shuts down properly, then halts, but nothing on the screen ever changes. I can startup at init level 3, do a shutdown, and can watch the steps unfold, then eventually it simply halts, and that's it. Once X is running, it never switches back. If I do an init 6, I can wait until it tires to start again, and press stop.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any solutions?

    Thanks
