Shift Select and Ctr Select doesnt work with external mouse on

Hello,
when I go to devices-usb and mount an external mouse to use in widows, shift select items or ctr select items stops working.
All select or de-select options in windows explorer or any other software stops working, when I unmount the external mouse it all works.
I'm using a 3Dconnexion cad mouse.
any ideas?
