I am wondering if it is possible to share a virtual machine between a Macbook and a iMac, without having to go through things like Parallels Access or storing the VM on a central share.

I am thinking about copying the current VM from the Macbook to the iMac, then creating a script utilizing scp and rsync. This would allow me access to a local copy of the virtual machine from both iMac and Macbook. I could trigger the script when I want to take the virtual machine with me when I'm about to leave the house, then synchronize the two files when I get back home to continue working on my iMac.

Does anyone see any complications with this? The only thing I could think of at the moment is regarding networking. However, I feel like if I was to set the virtual machines to both use a bridged network with the default adapter and the same MAC address, it should work *fine* right?? (I would never have both virtual machines running at the same time).

It would be great if I could get some opinions. Thanks! :)

TLDR; would like to use same VM for two computers. Sync VM with rsync and scp when moving between computers. Will it work?

    Hi Paul,
Unfortunately, we do not have such feature with Parallels Desktop to access the same VM on two Mac. Please submit a Problem Report ID http://kb.parallels.com/9058 and provide us the ID number here, so that we can check it for you.
