My school uses software called PaperCut to allow students connected to the wireless network to print to any of the printers on campus. This works fine with Windows and fine with Snow Leopard. It does NOT work fine with Lion (at least, the version of PaperCut that my school uses does not work with Lion). My work-around is to use Parallels. I can print from my virtual machine. What I'd REALLY like to do, though, is to share the successful printer connection from my virtual machine running Windows 7 with the host OS (Lion). I can't use the conventional printer sharing built-in to Windows 7 because all of the Sharing options are grayed out for that printer – see the attached picture (because only the IT department has permissions to change them) I was hoping that I could utilize some feature in Parallels (that I don't know about yet) to allow OS X to access that printer DIRECTLY through my virtual machine.... (which would be an improvement to my current work-around of printing to PDF from OS X, and then opening that PDF in my virtual machine and printing it that way).
