    Hi All,

Have Parallels 3.0 installed on a MBP currently running Leopard 10.5.2.

When I got the MBP in March I installed Win XP Pro onto boot camp and was able to use it as a VM with shared networking just fine with no problems of network connectivity.

Then Apple released the update I think sometime in April from 10.5.1 to 10.5.2 and all of a sudden my shared networking connection no longer worked to the VM. I think this was a problem for many people actually but I didn't have time to address the issue until now. Networking works fine when I boot from Boot Camp directly - so the doesn't seem to be a windows problem.

I use a wireless network, but shared networking didn't work when plugged into a router either....what is interesting is I can get networking to work every time I boot the VM from Mac OS if I make a new network connection using bridged ethernet. The new network name needs to be unique as well...if I use a previously set up network adaptor (i.e. Network Adaptor 15) which worked last time I booted the VM, the bridged networking won't work again...Windows can't see the network even though it is fine on the mac....But as long as I disable the prior network adaptor and make a new one (with a unique name...I'm up to Network adapter 78) then Bridged networking using Airport works fine on the VM. But if I shut down and restart it won't work anymore...bizarre, but figure some setting is changing and getting logged in a cache file somewhere. I have also diasabled Kapernsky with no luck. Shared networking on a newly named network adapter has never worked.

Here's what I've done so far:
    1. disabled windows firewall and Kapernsky
    2. Uninstalled and reinstalled Parallels tools manually
    3. Uninstalled Parallels desktop and all associated files from my Mac (have done every suggestion I found on the forums here and no luck)...including running all the Terminal uninstall commands and finding every parallels/windows directory on my MAC HD and deleting them.
    4. Clean installed my boot camp partition from a disk image I made with the original install
    5. Reinstalled and reactivated Parallels software...did this with build 5600 this morning.
    6. Reconfigured the boot camp VM using the clean installed parallels and clean installed Boot Camp
    7. Still no shared networking (kapernsky is off)
    8. Can get networking on the VM if I create a NEW, uniquely named, network adapter using Bridged networking
    9. As a bonus, I am now getting the Bridged Networking error that the DCHP address is already in use with bridged networking with build 5600....but the network connection still seems to work fine despite that.

What do I do? I give up. Networking is still fine if I boot into boot camp directly...just wish my shared or bridged networking would work every time. Something tells me there is a problem with the Mac OS software or some cache file I can't find.

I love parallels by the way. It is amazing, too bad Apple screwed it up with their last update it seems.

Thank you all who have posted to this forum for the help so far!

Thanks....hope that works, but I doubt it will fix my shared networking problem...but if I can get a stable bridged airport network connection to my VM, amen...
