I have installed Parallels and am trying to install windows. I can get the point just after agreeing to the license agreement, then i get a message from windows setup that says it could not read the CD. I have tried this with Windows XP Home and Pro (both factory MS disks). Any advice would be greatly apprecated.
Try to create ISO image from your CD using Parallels Image Tool and install from ISO. Are you sure the CD is readable?
image tool using image tool, will not let me select cd/dvd button duo mac mini, 10.4.6, beta 6 thanks, virgil
Hi Andrew, Yes I can make iso or cd images using toast and apples disk utility parallels reads them but windows will not install thanks, Virgil
And you have the same message "from windows setup that says it could not read the CD" even when installing from ISO image?
Hi Andrew, Yes I got the same msg when installing from ISO image also But here is the kicker, After trying 8 or 10 times today, the windows me iso worked and then the windowsXP iso did also as a upgrade Strange Days? Anything that could be causing this? Virgil
I've seen some quirky Windows installs similar to that on real machines. It was sometimes attributed to some sort of a hardware fault (e.g. overclocked CPU or bad RAM) and sometimes to an incompetent CD/DVD-ROM drive.
