While booting the guest OS for the first time the program quickly shuts down. Investigation into this reveals the program is segfaulting. I've got my headers installed.. libqt etc. inside of Ubuntu Edgy. Everything configures fine, the VM setup runs fine but when you push the play button, kaboom. below is the segfault data: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Parallels Workstation 2.2 for Linux version 2.2 Build 2092.0 from 2006-10-10 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Received SIGSEGV: Segmentation fault Access to fault address: 0x697c6169 unknown signal sender: 1 Reason - address not mapped #0 [0xffffe440] #1 ./parallels-linux [0x82d3870] #2 ./parallels-linux [0x82c3f5b] #3 ./parallels-linux [0x8283b66] #4 ./parallels-linux [0x8286f74] #5 ./parallels-linux [0x82874da] #6 ./parallels-linux [0x822e926] #7 /usr/lib/libqt-mt.so.3(_ZN7QObject15activate_signalEP15QConnectionListP8QUObject+0x12f) [0xb7a56957] #8 /usr/lib/libqt-mt.so.3(_ZN7QObject15activate_signalEi+0x162) [0xb7a573fc] #9 /usr/lib/libqt-mt.so.3(_ZN7QButton7clickedEv+0x31) [0xb7debf5f] #10 /usr/lib/libqt-mt.so.3(_ZN7QButton17mouseReleaseEventEP11QMouseEvent+0x14a) [0xb7af4fe8] #11 /usr/lib/libqt-mt.so.3(_ZN7QWidget5eventEP6QEvent+0xf3) [0xb7a8d729] #12 /usr/lib/libqt-mt.so.3(_ZN12QApplication14internalNotifyEP7QObjectP6QEvent+0x274) [0xb79edb88] #13 /usr/lib/libqt-mt.so.3(_ZN12QApplication6notifyEP7QObjectP6QEvent+0x578) [0xb79efd46] #14 /usr/lib/libqt-mt.so.3(_ZN12QApplication20sendSpontaneousEventEP7QObjectP6QEvent+0x5b) [0xb79803fd] #15 /usr/lib/libqt-mt.so.3(_ZN9QETWidget19translateMouseEventEPK7_XEvent+0x121e) [0xb797f062] #16 /usr/lib/libqt-mt.so.3(_ZN12QApplication15x11ProcessEventEP7_XEvent+0xbfc) [0xb797d14c] #17 /usr/lib/libqt-mt.so.3(_ZN10QEventLoop13processEventsEj+0x108) [0xb7994320] #18 /usr/lib/libqt-mt.so.3(_ZN10QEventLoop9enterLoopEv+0x70) [0xb7a0825e] #19 /usr/lib/libqt-mt.so.3(_ZN10QEventLoop4execEv+0x32) [0xb7a0806e] #20 /usr/lib/libqt-mt.so.3(_ZN12QApplication4execEv+0x25) [0xb79ef731] #21 ./parallels-linux [0x808dabe] #22 /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6(__libc_start_main+0xdc) [0xb74798cc] #23 ./parallels-linux(_ZN6QFrame10paintEventEP11QPaintEvent+0x3d) [0x808a461] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Any ideas?
Disabled sound and I get a segfault again with the same stack trace. Is it disabling sound in the vm or the host os?
Ok, that is where I disabled it. Still bombs with the same segfault. I created a VM with just memory and a hard disk and still the same segfault. Any thing else I should try?
. Giving up and going home. Just jokin. I just noticed the version of Ubuntu you're using. And there is a very good chance that this is your problem. .
I can imagine this is fixed soon with Ubuntu 6.10 dropping as we speak. Any word on what the deal is? Is it Qt3 that ships with 6.10 or is it parallels?
I'm running SUSE Linux 10.1 as host with Windows XP as guest. I also was getting segfaults. Turning off sound did solve my problem.
Wondering if anyone has found a solution for this... I had everything working in Suse 10.1 (running parallels as root and with sound disabled) In Ubuntu 6.10 it segfaults the same as the message above... Any solution?
I'm having the same issue, running kubuntu 6.10, furthermore, after a reboot running "parallels" no longer works at all, and instead gives the following: QString::arg(): Argument missing: Module <b>vm-main</b> is not found! <b>Parallels Workstation 2.2</b> is installed, but it has not been configured for your running kernel. To configure it please login as root and run <b>parallels-config</b>., Parallels Workstation QString::arg(): Argument missing: Module <b>vm-main</b> is not found! <b>Parallels Workstation 2.2</b> is installed, but it has not been configured for your running kernel. Received SIGABRT: Aborted QApplication:ostEvent: Unexpected null receiver Aborted If I run parallels-config after each reboot, I can then run parallels, but segfault when starting the vm.
It's doing the exact same for me, I'm going to submit a request to them today, or try and call; I was actually going to buy the full version, but now I guess I will have to wait until it gets fixed :-( On another note, I tested parallels on Ubuntu 6.06, however, I don't remember trying to start a virtual machine, can anyone running Ubuntu 6.06 verify that parallels works, if thats the case I'll just downgrade.
[not] me too! im not usually a metoo-er, but... me too! running a new edgy install, with qt libs and an arts lib that parallels was complaining about and I get a segfault each time i try to boot a new or existing VM. I also had to edit a few parallels config files to change /bin/sh to /bin/bash... hopefully this will be fixed soon, as i just made my purchase about a month ago... i have tried to disable sound, but the segfault remains.... please fix (the segfault and the script editing)! (heh) edgy is no longer in beta... thanks, mike [edit] parallels is now working for me after it finally prompted me to enter my registration key.... previously it would segfault before the registration screen appeared...
Fixed !! Thanks to the above member i have fixed this issue on my install. Just opened parallels and went to help > activate and entered my code. now it works. Thanks to all and hopefully this will get fixed. Setup: pentium d 940 intel 945p chipset ubuntu 6.10, gnome qt3 and require libs PS To the developers: Ubuntu 6.10 is not beta and should, as such, be supported by your product. Or at the very least have the work around documented in the documentation and on the download page.
