I'm trying to free up space on my HDD, and I was wondering if it would be possible to run my XP VM over a FireWire connection from an external disk (I can use FW800, but I currently only have 400 cables). I either intend to migrate my current VM image to the disk, or create a new partition on the external drive and put XP on that, in order to use it for Boot Camp as well (I don't know if I can migrate to a blank partition in this way).

Either way, I'd like to know from anyone with any experience with this whether or not running Windows XP over a connection of this speed is feasible. I'll be running a wide range of apps on there. I don't run many processor-intensive games, but I certainly want it to be able to stand up to the ones I do.

Any comments or advice would be much appreciated.
