Hi everyone. I'm trying to create a windows 95 machine on my Imac, but every time I turn the power on (on Parallels) the Imac freezes. What could be the problem?

    TIA,
    Felix

You are perhaps not being precise enough.

Which version of Parallels, what host OS version? Does Windows 95 have anything to do with the issue or does the computer freeze when you start any Parallels VM?

I'm using an Imac (Intel core 2 duo) with Mac OS 10.4.8. The Parallels I have is Desktop for Mac. I don't know if Windows 95 is the problem because I've never dealt with Parallels before.

I should probably add that I'm totally new to Macs!!!!

    Thanks!

The Parallels version question referred to the build number. If your Parallels build is less than 1970, you need to upgrade before you can use it on a core 2 duo.

The more detail you provide, the easier it is to help you.

Win95 can be used, but with limitations because the tools Parallels provides for installation in the VM don't support Win95 so you have limited virtual hardware. Win2000 would be a much better choice if you don't want to use XP.

Vista is a bad choice no matter what you are doing.

Thanks Joem. This is probably going to be real kindergarten, but how do I know what build I have?

Version information for most Mac apps, including Parallels is found by launching the app, and clicking the app name in the menu, and selecting "About" from the dropdown submenu.
