Anyone running VMs off USB drives / SD card using the SD card reader rather than the internal hard drive?
I'd be interested in hearing experiences.

  2. Hello Joe01,
Parallels Virtual Machines can run from an external USB/SD drives that has a ex-FAT or Mac OS extended journaled formats. For NTFS formatted drives, you need to have a NTFS driver for the Mac. However, this might not be as smooth as running the Virtual Machines from the internal Mac hard drive and has limitations like pausing/suspending the Virtual Machines and working with snapshots. Also note that the external drives should have enough free space for your Virtual Machine and its applications to work.
You can also this article which gives detailed information on running Virtual Machines from external mass storage.
