Apparently someone enabled VPC to run Vista (http://tinyurl.com/l567n). it that is correct it should also be possible to run Vista under Parallels. Apparently it is quite simple to come around the ACPI problem:
"If you hit it at the right time, though, you'll get into the BIOS setup screen. There's not a whole lot you can do here, but one of the things you can do is set 'ACPI Aware OS' to 'Yes.' Exit and save changes"

Curious whether this can be made to work under Parallels.

As stated so many times in this forum, PD doesn't yet support ACPI or ACPI spoofing. VPC has a software BIOS enabled as a layer, PD hasn't yet made such a layer accessible if it even has one.
Parallels is working on ACPI support and it will be available in a future release. Until then without hacking the Vista installer Vista won't install on a PD.

    HTH,
