Running free trial of 8, want to buy 9 without losing my stuff

I was using the free trial of parallels 8 and I liked it. Now I want to buy it, but it's parallels 9 now and I don't want to lose my things... How do I do that? Upgrading does the job?

 

Yes, but you'll have to buy a full license, not an upgrade license.

 

Then what do I do? I'll use the code and then upgrade my version?

 

There isn't anything particular that you have to do because you have the PDM8 trial. Just do everything normally as this would be the first time installing and purchasing Parallels, the only difference will be that it will recognize the existing installation and upgrade it accordingly. After you install PDM 9 it will ask for the code, like it would normally do.
