After 6 days with no response to my formal web-form request (below) to Parallels Support, I ask for any advice to HELP!
Subject: Many Crashes & Corrupted OS after 5160 Install
Category: Unexpected Windows Vista Ultimate behavior

    QUESTIONS:
    1) Can I simply copy a backup version of the file "winvista.hdd" to replace Vista corrupted after installing Build 5160? (backed up on an external hard disk)
    2) OR, should I also copy other or ALL files to the directory documents/Parallels/VistaUltimate ?

    3) If not, what do I need to do to revert back to Parallels v 4560? (It had worked flawlessly!)

    4) Build 5160 started causing corrupted video on my task bar, and in the Vista guest OS window, the first time I ran it.
Later, it crashed multiple times (with software and actions that had never been a problem with the former version--no new installations).
Next, it started blocking part of the Vista window with a black band.
Finally, it became so unstable that I could not get it to reliably boot and stay running.
Now, it`s so corrupted it won`t boot at all.

    5) Any other suggestions to fix this mess? (see below)

NOTE: I have the same problem reported on the Parallels Forum by Andy the "drewster" 10/6/07 and others:
Crashes in 5160 I am having the same exact problem with Windows Crashing with Parallels 5160. I am running a MacBook Pro My windows version is Vista Ultimate. Below is the info that Windows reports each and every time there is a crash: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: BlueScreen etc. etc. etc. See http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=16868&highlight=Vi

FYI: I'm desperate! I've spent over 30 hours trying to "Rebuild" or "Restore" Vista Ultimate! It crashes repeatedly, and seems so corrupted that it may not work again.
    >> Booting from the Vista DVD no longer works.
    >> System Restore does not work.
    >> At this point, options look like:
    A) copy from backup (questions above)
    B) total new installation of Vista (with big hassles with Microsoft security for my now useless $400 OS softwareplus re-installs of all software needed for income, not available in Mac OS X).

I have no idea what else to try! HELP!
