Resolution Scaling Issue with External Monitor vs Undocked Laptop

When I use Parallels Desktop to run Windows 11 on my MacBook, I want the resolution scaling option to be available in the configuration/hardware/graphics menu even when my MacBook is closed and I'm using an external monitor, so that I can easily adjust the resolution without having to open my MacBook.
