    Hey guys,

So I've decided that I like Parallels, but I want to reinstall a new, smaller Windows XP partition. Now, the first time I got XP Pro up and running, I licensed the copy of XP (they make you do it witin 30 days).. My question is, If I create a new partiton using parallels, and then try to enter the Windows XP key will it or won't it work? Is there anyway to get this key reset if it won't work? It's not like its an illegal copy, I am using it for my own use, but just need to recreate my partition.

    Thanks for the help.

I've had this a number of times. It's a bit hit and miss whether it will ask for the key, but if it does and it does not accept your key, you can ring microsoft. After a few questions they seem happy to reset it.

I've reset one copy twice like this as it has been used on VMWare and Parallels.

Ditto for me: have had to ring them a couple of times. The worst thing about it is that you then have about fifty numbers to type is, as the customer service person dictates your new reactivation number. :)

I just call and talk to a rep. It is easy as pie to get it activated.
