My wife has had Parallels as long as she has had her Mac - which is a year longer than I've had my Mac that I got this January. She paid for an upgrade on-line and got it about a year ago. But recently I read that automatic updates weren't working, so I went to her computer and told it to upgrade manually. It wanted a registration number. We didn't know that, so I went to the Parallels site, and entered her e-mail address, and it did not recognize it, so it gave her a temporary one just to download Parallels on a trial basis (we didn't download anything).
