I have Parallel Desktop version 6 running on a Macbook Pro running OS x 10.6. I have Windows 7 within Parallels and a number of programs which have been activated within Windows. I need to do a clean format of my Macbook because of a few bugs that I have with it. Can I copy the PVM file and then, after the re-installation of Parallels onto the newly formatted Macbook, copy it back to the Parallels sub-directory? This would hopefully save me the hassle of having to re-activate a number of Programs. Thanks and regards Bob Hawkins
Yes you can. Make sure they are the same size after the copy. When you copy the file back, you may need to fix permissions if there's a problem. When everything is reinstalled on your Mac, Parallels will either see the virtual machine or you can add it manually to the Virtual Machine List window.
