RC2 continues to show stability improvements, and for me it does most of what persuaded me to pre-order the product. However, one problem (for me) persists, namely, the inability to make Nuance Dragon Naturally Speaking (DNS) version 8.1 work in the virtual machine. I've tried various sound input devices - USB and line-in mikes - but none of them provide sound quality acceptable to DNS. Also (and I think others may have reported this), USB devices such as Lexar Jump Drive, a USB-2 device, evoke the message that they are USB 1.1 and that the VM does not have any USB 2 ports installed. This makes DNS unworkable for me, and thus negates one of the main reasons for going virtual on the Mac for user-critical Windows programs. All these devices and the DNS software work just fine in WinXP under Bootcamp, by the way. I hope you can make some progress before the production release of Parallels. In its current form, it works well enough for me for such apps as Quicken and several graphics apps, but it's a little like doing a 10K run wih one shoe missing. Jsqr
Me too! (poor sound recordning quality) I want to use Nuance Recognizer running on Windows XP inside Parallels desktop on my MacBook. It gets sound input, but there is some interference in the sound which messes up the recognition. Sound Recorder also gets the messed up sound. I think that Parallels Desktop is a great product, and if this issue gets fixed I'll buy it right away.
I have no problem with sound output, but for sound recording (input: mic, line-in), things just doesn't work as expected. there are a lot of noise. Agree.. If I can use my Windows only VOIP program with Parallels Workstations, I will buy it right away.
