Afternoon all I'm planning to buy a MacBook Pro with 16gb ram, I would like to assign 8gb ram to Parallels. My questions are:- 1. Can I assign 8gb ram to Parallels? 2. When I'm not using Parallels, will my Mac automatically be able to the full 16gb ram or will it be restricted at 8gb? Thanks for your help. Kate
Yes and yes. You don't assign RAM to Parallels, you assign to each virtual machine (you can have more than one), and it's used in a dynamic way, which means, if a Windows 10 Virtual machine has 8 GB assigned, but it's actually only using 2 at given moment, Parallels will only use those 2 GB leaving you with the rest. When the VM is shut down it does not consume any RAM.
