I realize this is basically a Quicken problem, but I think it's really either a Win7 or Parallels 5.0 problem. Today I installed Parallels 5 and Win 7 on a brand new Mac Mini. When I go to install Quicken, a few screens into the program, I get the following message "1607 unable to install installshield scripting runtime". Googling this ad, I get a report that THIS error ONLY applies to XP Windows. Strangely enough, I just installed the same Quicken disk on my MB with Win 7 and Parallels and the program installed fine. Any information on what version of Quicken others are running with Win 7 and Par 5 would be appreciated. I'm at the point where I'm thinking of dumping Par 5 and then reinstalling Win 7 from scratch since I'm thinking I may have a corrupted installation of either Par 5 or Win 7.
actually this problem valid not just for Win XP: http://www.techsupportforum.com/mic...-install-installshield-scripting-runtime.html Try to contact with Microsoft support.
Similar Problem on iMac I am an avid Quicken user and discovered the same problem when installing Quicken and TurboTax for Win on my brand new i7 Mac. What I have found is that on the i7 iMacs (27 inch), when you install the Parallels Internet Security it causes numerous applications crashes in Win 7. Supposedly this is happening on i7 iMac running Win 7 as Guest OS only, but it might also happen on a new Mac Mini. Try removing the Parallels Internet Security, shut down the VM, rebooting the entire machine, and the reloading VM, and installing Quicken. I was success before I had diagnosed the Parallels Internet Security problem by pushing the re-install several times, clearing the Windows Installer cache, and I also entered the %Temp% directory and found the files created for installation and ran setup from there. In the end, it appears Kapersky (Parallels Internet Security) is blocking some kind of action with either creating directories or accessing directories in the VM used by running applications when moving files around - especially during installation and update. Good luck.
