i have a client with 5 pc's and 3 macs. we have put xp vm's on the 3 macs with quickbooks 2011 on them. The data is hosted on a windows xp workstation configured as a quickbooks database server. The pc's all can open the file in multi-user mode. The virtual pc's are popping an error H202, a common quickbooks error which means it cannot communicate correctly with the server. We had this issue on the pc's initially until we added an entry to the hosts file. Then no problems at all. So, we built the vm's with the host entry included. I edited the hosts file on the macs also, pointing an entry to the server. We added a server share on the macs to the location. The firewalls are disabled on the VM's and on the macs. The vm's can open the file in single user mode, just not multi... any ideas anyone?
