When parallels is able to recognize more than two USB devices will that be a downloadable upgrade? Can I run a 3d program like maya on it?
I read that more than 2 usb devices will be available on 3.0 (but that might change). It'd be a downloadable (but payed) upgrade then. 3D support is not yet available in any virtualization software out there so for now you're out of luck. There's a native maya for Linux though.
