If my computer running OS Catalina, can I install Parallels and in that install OS Mojave and run my older 32-bit apps?

You can install Mojave VM but all macOS X VM's running in Parallels Desktop will run a macOS X in safe mode so 3D Acceleration will be disabled. Application which need it will not work properly but other applications will work normally.

Does VM mean "virtual machine" Guessing.
I have not heard of 3D acceleration before. How would I know which apps need it?

Hi, yes VM means virtual machine.
Please share with us any example of app that you would like to run on the Mojave virtual machine?

Hi, we've received your reply and check the system requirements for the apps you've provided us with.
Looks like all of them will run on Mojave without any possible issues.
You can test Parallels Desktop app during the 14 days (trial period).
Anyway please share with us any results.
