Just installed "The Sims Complete Collection" on Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3 with Parallels Desktop 4.0 for Mac (build 4.0.3810). The game launches and runs but the mouse pointer disappears on input panels making it almost impossible to use. I tried disabling 3D Graphics but that only made it take 5 times longer to startup and didn't fix the problem. The list of compatible games shows "The Sims" so I believe it should be working. Any ideas/tips/suggestions? Anyone else running this without problems? Thanks, Darren
No, I am using the standard Apple mouse and keyboard. Parallel Tools is installed (and reinstalled) and the mouse works fine between the Mac OS and Windows VM. It doesn't work with most of the user input screens in The Sims. The mouse pointer appears to still be functioning within The Sims but just can't be seen. As I roll over different input elements they highlight as if the pointer is over it. Pressing Ctrl-Option makes the pointer reappear but once I click into the Windows application it vanishes again. If I disconnect the Apple mouse and plug back in Parallels asks if I want to make it available to Mac or Windows WM. If I select Windows I am now stuck and can't get the mouse to function at all.
Hello, Derwinator, Please, right-click somewhere on your windows Desktop -> Properties -> Settings -> Advanced -> Troubleshoot and dicrease Hardware acceleration to be the last but one. Hit OK, start Sims and check the mouse.
Did as you suggested but no fix for the problem. The pointer is visible in many parts of The Sims (neighborhood views, house view, etc) but just disappears with user input screens like the Create Sims family.
