Hi all, thanks in advance for any help. I have Windows 7 installed in Parallels 5, the host OS is Snow Leopard. When I use the USB to serial converter on any computer running Windows as it's base OS, there is no issue. Only when I try to use the converter from Windows, in Parallels 5 does the issue occur. I know there are some differences between USB to serial converters so here is the link to the one that I have: http://www.cablestogo.com/product.asp?cat%5Fid=1529&sku=26478 What I'm doing is using the usb to serial converter to communicate with a data logger (Persistor CF2), Windows uses a command line program (MotoCross for Picodev) that comes with the CF2 unit software package in order to communicate with the logger (by sending and running programs or by using live commands). Kudos if you're still with me here.... So the issue doesn't seem to be the communication....I can send the logger commands like tell it to reset, or format the drive, or do basic unix directory commands, but I cannot run any programs I send it (not even the test program that is sent by the manufacturer), (which actually works when loaded from a normal Windows computer). It does seem that I can send the program, (or load it), but I cannot actually run it, because when I run it, the logger crashes, and it has to be manually reset. Any help on this issue would be really appreciated, I have to work on this for a professor of mine, and I've been stuck for a few days now. I really need this to work if I'm going to be able to be as productive as I need to be for the next year. Thanks again, and I will post the solution once it is found.
Do you know what brand the processor chip is? Many low-cost adapters have problems with drivers/hardware. I recommend buying a good quality USB to serial adapter.
