So everything had been working fine in Parallels 5 (latest build) with XP SP3 as my Boot Camp volume.

This morning, I noticed that I could not get an Internet connection through the VM. I usually use bridged networking to get a separate IP for the VM. Going into the network interface in XP, I saw no IP address. Clicking Repair produced a message about faulty TCP/IP.

Following a message I found in the forums (granted, it was from a few years ago), I uninstalled Parallels Tools from Windows. The uninstaller never really finished, just sitting there after about 10 or 15 minutes with no disk activity. I forced it to quit and restarted the VM. When I got back up, the VM was running dog slow in 640x480 with 4 bit color! The forum thread had indicated to try uninstalling the network interface from the Device Manager. I tried doing this, and again the uninstallation of the driver just got stuck. I gave up on that, then managed to reinstall Parallels Tools, but now I can't go into Coherance mode and every time I reboot, the VM gets stuck at Logging off or shutting down.

Argh. What have I done? Any ideas on how to proceed?

For those with this problem, the solution:

Open Command Prompt in Windows (Start > Run.. > type 'cmd' > OK)

    And enter following command:

    netsh winsock reset

Restart Windows and use next command:

    netsh int ip reset reset.log

    Restart Windows once again.
