I just downloaded and upgraded to version 5582. The installation seemed to have gone correctly, but I'm getting the following error message once I start my Windows XP virtual machine:

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:

    \windows\inf\biosinfo.inf

You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD-ROM.

Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair.

What is going on? This was a perfectly running VM before the upgrade.

    I'm using Mac OS/X version 10.4.11

    Please help.

I had this too.. I fixed it using one of the walk throughs on here...

I right clicked on my .hdd file, clicked 'show contents', dragged the .hds file onto the desktop. I than deleted the '.hdd' file as its just an empty shell now.

I then 'got info' on the .hds file, and renamed the file to winxp.hdd (you may rename it to something else). I used this .hdd file to recreate my VM and all went well :)

    Cheers,
    Jase

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to try what you mentioned, but can you (or somebody) point me to the post you referenced? I would like to read the entire message myself.

Thanks for the link. I followed the procedure, but unfortunately, I still have the same problem. It can't seem to find the biosinfo.inf file, or it's corrupted somehow. Looks like I'm going to have to dig out my Windows XP disk and try to fix that way, but I now have no confidence in my Parallels VM.

    This really sucks.

    Memory error

I have another problem after upgrading to 5582. Since then i always get the following error:

Parallels Desktop failed to allocate the specified amount of memory.
Please restart Parallels Desktop and try again.
To avoid this problem in the future choose from the menu: Parallels Desktop -> Preferences. On the Memory tab select the *Enable virtual memory preallocation" option.

i tried this serval times but it doesen't help. I'm using OSX 10.5.1, hopefully someone knows a solution.

After all i'm very frustrated, since 10.5 every upgradeo of Parallels causing another problem witch prevents my VM machine to start. Aren't the developers capable anymore to program a working version for 10.5?
