I have attempted several time to install the version of Parallels that I purchased for Windows XP and I continue to receive errors that result in an inability complete the install. I have sent email to your support team but I have only received one response indicating that they received my email but no other communication. Can you have someone look up my issue and respond with either a solution or a phone call to explain what the problem is? I spend good money buying your product for both Windows and my Mac Pro and I am having problems with both; I feel that I am not getting the type of support I expect from a software company that I purchased product from.

    Thanks,

Perhaps if you would describe your problem to this forum, someone here might help you. You know - all the usual stuff like XP version, security settings, any unusual hardware/drivers, where the installation stops, what kind of error messages, etc.

Problem installing Parallels for Windows - Details

OS: Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 (.NET 1.1 and 2.0 including Visual Studio 2003 & 2005)
Hardware: Hyperthreaded Intel Pentium 4 running at 3.2Ghz with 1 GB memory
Hard Drive: 150GB with about 20GB available.

I was expecting someone from Paralles to be monitoring this forum and to possibly respond. I can provide a complete dump of loaded drivers and dlls if needed.

The installation is what is failing; toward what I would assume is the end of the installation process it informs me that it can not install Hypervisor and that I must exit the install. It provided not other information and since the installation never completes I have nothing to uninstall. I have tried rebooting the computer and re-running the install with no success. I have already contact Parallels Support via email on two occassions with no response other than an automated email saying that they received my message. I have looked on this forum for assistance with this particular problem and found no other postings.

    Mac OS: Mac OSX 10.4.7
    Hardware: Mac Pro 2 x 3Ghz Dual-Core Intel Xeon with 2 GB 667 Mhz DDR2 FB-DIMM
    Hard Drive: 250GB

The problem with Parallels on the new Mac Pro have been well documented and I am waiting for official emails from Parallels or this forum indicating the availabllity of a patch or new download to fix the problem.

Have you tried the 2.2 beta version? Maybe your problem is fixed there :)

I will have to check the download on my PC to verify the version downloaded. The Parallels site only shows the 2.1 version for download. Where would I find the 2.2 download?

Since I purchased the 2.1 version I shouldn't need to use a Beta version (2.2) to get a fix for this problem. Why wouldn't Parallels provide the fix in a 2.1.x version? When I purchase software I expect the version that I pay money for to work; I can accept minor defects in the product but not critical issues like not being able to install the product at all. If my issue is fixed in the 2,2 beta then since I purchased a license I shouldn't be restricted to a 15 day trial period for using 2.2. Parallels should have offered me a unrestricted license key for the beta until the release version of 2.2 was ready for prime time.

Actually, you can use your same 2.1 license with 2.2 to unlock it. That's how I'm running 2.2 right now.

Thanks for the information. Is this fact included in the main product support site? Or did you find this out through your own testing.
