    ---

running beta4 of the parallels for OSX product

Guest VM OS: Windows XP SP2

-set the guest vm to full screen mode

-hardware acceleration set to 1 stop below the max

    -started windows media player

-tried <Alt>+<Return> key combination to switch back out of fullscreen mode for parallels window

---> it appears that this is the same key stroke combination for Windows Media Player to switch to full screen mode

    the resulting confusion is this:

-screen will go thru a couple flash transitions and come to a rest on a message from media player saying

"To use Full Screen command, you might need to adjust windows display settings. Open Display in Control Panel and then try setting hardware acceleration to Full."

-if i move the mouse at all, the sequence repeats

-black and white mouse cursors appear to be overlayed with each other as i can right click on the desktop causing the black cursor to turn white and the action dropdown to appear very quickly and then disappear

-i was finally able to right click and hold down the button, drag the mouse over to the start button and shut the guest OS down and regain control

---> this is repeatable on my system

    ---

----> i tried setting hardware acceleration to Full...same result

    ---

EDIT: this problem does not occur unless Media Player is the active window.

You can try to change key combination for full-screen mode in parallels. There is a number of mouse/keyboard related problems in beta4 that were fixed - we'll see what we can do with your problem. Anyway, try changing full-screen combination to make it work better.

    thanks.

i found where to change the key combination
Parallels Workstation | Preferences | Hot Keys

changed it to use <Alt> + <Shift> ... no doubt this will conflict with something else, but it seems to work well for media player
