MacBook Air 2011, 13", Win 7 Professional 32 bit, Parallels 9. I can turn on Win 7's desktop composition setting and use my laptops display reliably. However, I can't reliably connect or disconnect an external monitor (either Apple Thunderbolt display or a Phillips display using a DVI adapter). It works sometimes but frequently displays garbage or black and requires a reboot of my laptop. When I turn off desktop composition, connecting or disconnecting is reliable. Is this a known issue? Any way to keep desktop composition on?
I have this same issue with my MBP Retina 15-in, Early 2013, since I installed Yosemite and the Parallels 10. When I connect or disconnect my Dell UltraSharp, i sometimes get a black screen and the laptop becomes unresponsive forcing a restart via the power button. I'm going to try turning of Desktop Composition to see if it helps at all. One thing I noticed was that if i switch back over to the Mac desktop before connecting or disconnecting the monitor, i rarely, if at all, saw the black screen. Every once in a while a forget to switch back to the Mac from Parallels and suffer the consequences.
