I'm super new to mac and wanted to install windows through parallels to use some CAD programs. So I installed Parallels and followed all the steps and I get to the step where I have to insert the Windows CD (Windows XP in my case), but after I install it and press the green play button, I see a grey curtain come down and it says I have to restart my computer by holding the startup button or pretty the restart. By this point I can't move my mouse, all I can do is hold the startup button. Any suggestions? I'm really lost. Thanks in advance.

its called a kernel panic. Try uninstalling parallels, reboot osx and then reinstall parallels. Then reboot again. Then try installing Windows.

I tried what you told me Darkone, but no go. I'm still getting the same problem. Any other ideas? Thanks

I am also having the same problem. Sent a help email in and have had no reply. This is a brand new 24" iMac with 3 gb of RAM. Have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times. Very frustrating!
